****I
recommend using this book with children in Pre K or Kindergarten. This book has
colorful pictures and displays various ways that children can make 100th
day collections. There are pictures of a calendar counting by 1s and flags
counting by 10s. The illustrations in the book assist children get ideas and
visually see the process. This book is also a short easy read with slight
humor.
Classroom
Ideas: This book is great for the 100th day celebration
in school. This book can definitely be used in conjunction with art class. This
book allows for different modalities of teaching techniques to be displayed and
assist children with disabilities (see, hear, process, hands on). The visual
depictions in the book makes it easier for a teacher to utilize different manipulative's
and replicate the little girl’s classroom. Students can utilize problem solving
skills and model their understanding of numbers and counting through the use of
objects provided by the teacher. This book also prompts an assignment to get
parents involved by requesting each child bring in a 100th day
celebration project to share with the class.
Hi Natasha, this book will help children use math concepts presented in the story to develop counting, addition, grouping, and problem-solving skills. This provides many opportunities for the teacher's to practice counting skills to 100 with children. I also love that through this stroy you can have various games and activities for children to create. For instance, creating using 100 objects, counting beans in the jar and etc.
ReplyDeleteI think your book is vibrant in which will grasp children's attention. I like that it can be used in different curriculum. Children are able to uses their senses and help them develop their fine motor skills.
