Rating: ***** I highly recommend this book to very young children because it introduce the number and object corresponding.
Classroom Ideas: The teacher can use this book to introduce visual numbers from one to five with ladybug objects instead of rote counting. Teacher can use the addition and subtracting method by adding and taking away lady bugs. Teacher can also introduce pattern concept by having different color lady bugs. (2 reds- 2 blacks and 1 yellow) Teacher can engage the children in an art activity that will assess their receptivity development by asking them to draw a picture of five ladybugs.

  1. Hi Bridgette, it's one bright, colorful and interactive book for very young children. I loved how it showed that one by one, five tactile bugs disappear. Young ones will love finding out as they feel their way through the sturdy, colorful pages of this innovative book. This book provides a hands-on learning experience and the rhyming text reinforces the counting concept too.
